Kartell celebrates 10 years of the iconic lamp by Ferruccio Laviani with a special exhibition in Paris
The Bourgie surprised everyone, when it was presented in 2004 in Milan Men’s Dolce & Gabbana store, for its ironic and contemporary message.Who could have imagined that it will become one of the best-selling Kartell.
The guiding principle of the designer and architect Ferruccio Laviani who designed it, is all wrapped up in the term wannabe: the desire to take on a personality. In occasion of the double birthday (the 10th of Bourgie and the 65th of Kartell, the same principle has guided the game extended to fourteen designers team of the company , who gave to the lamp a new look.
Ten years later, after about 350 thousand units sold in the world, rivers of ink and countless publications, it is confirmed as a case of design history . The transparent polycarbonate , which has crystallized in the form of the archetype undisputed table lamp, over time, is colored in black, gold, silver, matte white and multicolored titanium, pink and blue each time becoming a new and suitable for any style. Today declined in fourteen new ideas.
The curtain on this particular collection , it is raised in the Kartell store on Boulevard Saint Germain in Paris during Maison & Objet (24-28 January 2014 ), chosen as the first stop of the traveling exhibition Re- Dessiner the Bourgie that has, in the setting edited by Laviani himself, the samples next to the two-dimensional photographic silhouettes of their respective authors.
