Cassina – Tre pezzi, F.Albini

Cassina pays tributes to the 50th years of the Milan underground with the “Tre Pezzi Metropolita” armchair designed by Franco Albini.

In occasion of the anniversary of the Milan underground line 1, designed by Franco Albini and Franca Helg, Cassina presents a new version of the iconic armchair Tre Pezzi designed in 1959, in collaboration with the Franco Albini foundation.

The innovative Milan underground signaling system realized with Bob Noorda, became a standard  adopted in the undergrounds all over the world. The success of this graphic comunication project was awarded in 1964 of the Compasso d’oro as the broader work of social design.

The handrail is marked by red colour, a distinctive sign of the Milan underground passages still now and it’s replicated in the structure of the “Tre Pezzi”. The cushion upholstery in black fabric is another elements that underlines this characteristic element.

The Tre Pezzi Metropolitana armchair is going to be integrated to the Cassina collection “I Maestri” to underline the importance of the language of this iconic product.
