The Omote Fuyu Runner, designed by Mae Engelgeer for cc-tapis, offers a contemporary interpretation of the traditional Japanese tatami mat, focusing on balance, texture, and material purity. Created in collaboration with cc-tapis artisans, the runner reflects a refined minimalist aesthetic inspired by Japanese interior traditions.
Crafted through a meticulous handloom weaving process, the design features natural yarns woven around a soft and insulating felt core, recreating the distinctive suppleness, warmth, and comfort associated with tatami flooring. The yarns are dyed in Mae Engelgeer’s signature tonal palette, creating subtle chromatic transitions and a calm, architectural surface rhythm.
Blending craftsmanship with contemporary textile design, the Omote Fuyu Runner is particularly suited for hallways, corridors, and transitional spaces, where it introduces softness, warmth, and understated elegance.
