The Zettel'z A5 Chandelier by Ingo Maurer is one of the most iconic and interactive lighting designs in contemporary design history. Introduced in 1997, this extraordinary pendant light blurs the boundaries between illumination, art, and personal expression, transforming every installation into a unique and evolving creation.
Crafted from stainless steel, heat-resistant frosted glass, and delicate Japanese paper, Zettel'z A5 features a cloud-like arrangement of 80 suspended paper sheets, including 31 printed sheets and 49 blank DIN A5 sheets. The printed notes showcase sketches, thoughts, and messages by Ingo Maurer, while the blank sheets invite users to add their own drawings, ideas, poems, or personal messages.
At the heart of the design lies the concept of participation. The papers can be arranged freely, creating either a light and airy composition or a dense, sculptural form. This flexibility allows each Zettel'z installation to become a reflection of its owner, making every piece truly one of a kind.
The ultra-thin Japanese paper softly filters the light, creating a warm and atmospheric glow. Two independent light sources provide both ambient illumination and direct downward light, making the chandelier ideal above dining tables, reception areas, creative workspaces, hospitality environments, and contemporary living interiors.

In the early 60s Ingo Maurer founded the studio in Monaco “Design M” kicking off the first projects of lamps. All in the name of irony and provocation. In many of his works is immediately evident the interest in everyday materials (plastic and aluminium) in favor of a simple and craftsmanship image. Cornerstones of his work are the mobility of the object and the emotionality of the product. The Ingo Maurer lamps are real games: essential forms that offer many possibilities of combinations.
