In the magical world of mountain interiors, three remarkable projects stand out for their shared language of elegance, natural materials, and meticulous attention to detail — each with its own territorial and design identity.
Here are three projects curated by Interni, in synergy with clients and architectural studios: the chalet in Cortina d’Ampezzo, the chalet in Aspen (Colorado), and the chalet in Crans-Montana (Switzerland).
Located just outside the heart of Cortina d’Ampezzo, this chalet is a perfect encounter between Alpine tradition and high-end design. The project, by architect Isabella Genovese and Paolo Tormena (founder of Henge), features reclaimed larch wood sourced from ancient local barns, enhanced by stone, metal, and carefully selected fabrics.
Inside, large windows flood the spaces with natural light, while the furniture showcases iconic Henge pieces such as the Sisma table, Tubular lights, and Origami coffee table.
The atmosphere evokes an authentic mountain retreat, reinterpreted with contemporary sensitivity: warm materials, a thoughtfully curated palette, and volumes designed for comfort and scenic views.
This project tells the story of the fusion between local heritage and bespoke design.
In the exclusive setting of Aspen (Colorado), this project unfolds on a completely different scale — a vast 14,000 m² residence realized over two years. The client, an admirer of Italian design, entrusted HFG Design, Inc. and Interni to oversee the design process and curate furnishings and finishes, all strictly Made in Italy.
Natural materials such as wood, marble, and leather, combined with metallic accents, form a warm, neutral palette. Every space embodies the idea of luxurious living with high performance.
In essence, this chalet is the ultimate expression of Alpine luxury reinterpreted on an international scale, bearing the unmistakable signature of Italian elegance.
In the renowned Swiss resort of Crans-Montana, this project presents a modern, understated, and elegant identity. The color palette favors neutrals — greys, creams, and browns — and the furnishings come from leading international design brands, featuring a refined selection of fabrics, materials, and accessories.
Both the living and sleeping areas are crafted with meticulous detail: the Cage bookcase by Henge, Ceccotti armchairs, and Meridiani beds. The result is an environment that blends mountain charm with contemporary flair, marked by a strong stylistic identity.
Here, the keyword is “mountain minimalism” — a mountain style that is less rustic and more refined, where design furniture takes precedence over the traditional chalet aesthetic.
These three projects — in Cortina, Aspen, and Crans-Montana — represent distinct interpretations of 21st-century high-altitude living: each unique, each with its own identity, yet all united by a deep respect for design, the synergy between furniture and architecture, and the desire to elevate mountain living from simple retreat to an experience of luxury and wellbeing.
For those seeking inspiration, these projects act as a resonant source of ideas on materials, palettes, and the relationship between natural landscapes and exceptional interior design.
