Designed by Axel Schmid for Ingo Maurer, the Eclipse Ellipse Wall Lamp is an interactive lighting sculpture that explores the ever-changing relationship between light and shadow. Inspired by the visual phenomenon of an eclipse, the design transforms a wall into a dynamic canvas where circular forms and projected shadows continuously interact.
Composed of a large steel disc and a smaller movable aluminum disc, Eclipse Ellipse encourages personal creativity. Both elements can be adjusted, allowing users to create unique configurations of circles and ellipses that change the lamp's visual effect. In this way, the owner becomes a co-creator, shaping the final composition according to the surrounding architecture and atmosphere.
More than a decorative wall light, Eclipse Ellipse is a statement piece that merges artistic expression with functional illumination. The integrated LED source provides a soft, indirect glow while generating striking graphic shadows that bring depth and movement to the space.
Ideal for contemporary living rooms, hallways, hospitality settings, galleries, and sophisticated commercial interiors, Eclipse Ellipse reflects the innovative spirit and experimental approach to light for which Ingo Maurer's creations are internationally renowned.

In the early 60s Ingo Maurer founded the studio in Monaco “Design M” kicking off the first projects of lamps. All in the name of irony and provocation. In many of his works is immediately evident the interest in everyday materials (plastic and aluminium) in favor of a simple and craftsmanship image. Cornerstones of his work are the mobility of the object and the emotionality of the product. The Ingo Maurer lamps are real games: essential forms that offer many possibilities of combinations.
