With its 2026 collection, Poltrona Frau turns away from novelty for novelty’s sake and instead proposes a more enduring idea of luxury, one measured through permanence, emotional resonance, and craftsmanship capable of acquiring meaning over time. Presented under the title True Over Time, the collection unfolds as a meditation on authenticity: objects designed not only to inhabit space, but to evolve alongside those who live with them.
At the heart of the collection is the evolution of Archibald by Jean-Marie Massaud, one of the brand’s most recognisable designs, now expanded into the Archibald Sofa System. The new modular configuration amplifies the original’s enveloping comfort through broader volumes and fluid compositions tailored to contemporary living. Massaud preserves the iconic tension between structured lines and soft upholstery while introducing a greater architectural flexibility. Complementing the system are the sculptural Baldwin side tables, developed with Ceccotti Collezioni, whose integrated presence transforms functionality into part of the composition itself.
The domestic landscape imagined by Poltrona Frau this year feels notably softer and more intimate. The collaboration with Faye Toogood extends into the bedroom with LieLow, a collection that translates the designer’s playful, tactile vocabulary into oversized upholstered beds and softly contoured bedside tables. Elsewhere, Ludovica Serafini and Roberto Palomba continue the evolution
of Blisscape with new asymmetrical modules and deeper seating configurations designed around the body’s shifting rituals of rest and interaction. Across the collection, comfort is never treated as excess, but as a carefully calibrated architectural gesture.
In the dining area, Roberto Lazzeroni delivers some of the collection’s most sculptural moments. Infinitamente 2.0 expands the scale of its predecessor through a monumental marble top suspended above helicoidal leather-clad bases crafted using techniques borrowed from luxury automotive interiors. Abigail, by contrast, adopts a quieter elegance: a restrained marble table whose tapered wooden legs and softened proportions emphasise material purity over ornamentation. Lazzeroni also introduces the Zabriskie storage modules, suspended compositions inspired by 1970s modernism that balance rigid leather-clad panels with polished metallic accents.
Lighting and collectible design continue to occupy an increasingly central role within the Poltrona Frau universe. The debut collaboration with Atelier Oï results in Tullissé, a luminous object defined by spiralling bands of woven Pelle Frau® leather that filter light with remarkable delicacy. Equally significant is the reissue of Gio Ponti Oro, an unpublished lamp originally conceived by Gio Ponti in 1956. Its rhythmic brass panels and vertical light tubes feel strikingly contemporary, demonstrating the enduring clarity of Ponti’s vision decades after its creation. The collection further expands through poetic interventions by Yuki Nara and digital artist Six N. Five, reinforcing the brand’s ongoing dialogue between craftsmanship and contemporary culture.
Underlying every launch is a deeper material research that positions sustainability as an intrinsic component of timeless design. Pelle Frau® Heritage leather now adopts the Impact Less tanning process, significantly reducing chemical and water consumption while preserving the tactile richness that defines the brand’s identity. New textiles, expanded colour palettes, and the introduction of Ombra di Caravaggio marble further enrich the collection’s sensory vocabulary. Yet what ultimately distinguishes True Over Time is the belief that truly contemporary design is not created to capture a moment, but to outlast it gracefully.
