At Milan Design Week 2026, RODA reinforces its vision of contemporary outdoor living by presenting new collections that interpret open-air lifestyles through elegance, comfort and design coherence. Among the most notable novelties is VELA, the new lounge chair designed by m2atelier, a project that perfectly synthesizes the brand’s sophisticated and versatile design language. With VELA, RODA expands its universe of high-end outdoor furniture, strengthening the dialogue between design, architecture and contemporary lifestyle. A collection conceived for residential settings, hospitality projects and contract environments alike, redefining relaxation in outdoor spaces.

VELA by m2atelier: the outdoor lounge chair inspired by Gio Ponti’s architecture
Designed by m2atelier, VELA originates from the idea of an inclined and welcoming lounge chair inspired by seating typically found in libraries and bookshops, reinterpreted for outdoor living. The aim was to create a chair capable of encouraging relaxation and informal conversation through a naturally reclined and convivial posture. The collection expresses the strength of an essential architectural gesture: an oblique line that introduces tension and dynamism into the space, reinterpreting Gio Ponti’s inclined geometries through a contemporary lens. VELA is available in two lounge chair versions: one more relaxed with a high backrest, and another more upright and compact. Two distinct interpretations of the same comfort concept, designed to engage with sophisticated and versatile outdoor environments.

Natural materials and tailored details for contemporary outdoor luxury
The structure of the VELA collection combines a natural iroko wood base with a painted aluminum backrest and woven straps, expressing a refined balance between visual lightness and structural solidity. A key element of the project is the generous cushioning, conceived to enhance comfort without compromising the purity of the silhouette. Upholstered armrests add an extra layer of tactile and visual softness, seamlessly integrated into the overall design of the seating.
This design approach perfectly reflects RODA’s philosophy: creating sophisticated, high-performance and versatile outdoor furniture capable of fitting naturally into any architectural context.

RODA Design Week 2026: outdoor living between architecture and lifestyle
With the novelties presented during Milan Design Week 2026, RODA continues to redefine the concept of contemporary outdoor living through collections that blur the boundaries between indoors and outdoors. Design becomes experience, interaction and comfort, creating spaces where architecture, nature and conviviality coexist in balance. VELA perfectly represents this evolution: a seating collection born from a simple yet highly expressive gesture, capable of transforming outdoor relaxation into a sophisticated and timeless experience.
