With Reti-co, his latest cabinet collection for Cappellini, Daisuke Kitagawa seamlessly blends Japanese minimalism with contemporary Italian design, creating pieces that are at once timeless, functional, and strikingly modern, perfectly capturing Cappellini’s vision of refined living.
Drawing inspiration from the shoji, the traditional Japanese sliding door of wood and paper, Reti-co reimagines the cabinet by eliminating conventional handles. The doors themselves become both structural and aesthetic elements, with a delicate lattice pattern serving as an intuitive, natural grip. Opening the cabinet is a gesture reminiscent of shoji doors, combining functionality with a subtle poetic movement. The geometric grid, informed by the golden ratio, achieves an exquisite balance of proportion and visual harmony, elevating both form and material.
Reti-co is available in two sizes, with a solid oak case offered in natural or black-stained finishes, as well as in a new open-pore lacquer in rich blue, green, and burgundy hues. Doors can be crafted in matching oak, back-painted glass in coordinating colors, or a curated selection of luxurious fabrics from the Cappellini collection.
Minimalist yet expressive, Reti-co adapts effortlessly to luxury interiors, sophisticated residential settings, and high-end contract projects.
