Young Milanese designer Giacomo Moor brings his vision to Cappellini with the Mathare collection, a furniture series inspired by a construction system that ensures stability and durability through sequential joints, eliminating unnecessary elements. The modular repetition of legs, crossbars, and chains reinterprets the classic woodworking concept of interlocking with simplicity, elegance, and industrial efficiency.
The collection’s name honors a humanitarian project in Mathare, one of Nairobi’s largest slums, where Moor designed and crafted furniture for a local school. Through Mathare, the designer celebrates the resilience and vitality of the community, merging industrial design principles with meaningful social impact.
The Mathare collection includes benches and tables in multiple sizes, with custom contract configurations also available. All pieces are crafted in oak, offered in natural or black-stained finishes, or in a new open-pore lacquer in blue, green, and burgundy, combining refined aesthetics with versatile functionality.
