INTERNI and CK Architecture Interiors have established a partnership for the realization of some villas in Palm Jumeirh, Dubai. The successful partnership has opened the doors to future collaborations. We have had a talk with Cem Kapancioglu, Founder and Managing Director of CK Architectre Interiors.

The leitmotiv guiding your work.

There are 2 leitmotifs in our works, the client’s satisfaction and pushing our limits higher on each project. We are a boutique Design & Build company that delivers quality end results to our clients in accordance with their needs and wants. We solve their problems and reach to their taste in terms of design and constructed spaces. We are a young company with high hopes to maintain the quality in each of our projects. 

You have a strong work relationship with INTERNI, tell us about your Collaboration

In collaborative works the strategic positioning is the key. With our collaborative work with INTERNI, we have successfully maintained the roles of Lead & Follow in perfect combination and balance, that resulted in happy result for both the firms and for the end-user as well. 

What are the added values that INTERNI have compared to other reatilers?

We can easily say that when INTERNI is proposing an idea, they know exactly what they are selling with all the details and the possible outcome of the wow effect towards the end-user.

During your long experience in the world of interior design you have met enterpreneurs, artist, designers and great masters: how important are people for a company?

In the field of arts and architecture we are all dependent on each other. If there was no Medici family it is hard to say but there would not be any Michelangelo. As an architect I’ve always wondered the idea of Architecture without a client and always find the answer not possible. In addition, the practice of Master & Apprentice must be practiced in our contemporary times as well for this field.

Architect and interior designer, teacher and consultant for some of the best interior brands, Massimo Castagna has been collaborating with Interni for many years for the realization of ambitious project all over the world. How was it collaborating with him?

Continuing with my remark on Master & Apprentice practice in this field, Mr Castagna is really the key figure for the success of INTERNI as I can see, and having the chance to collaborate with him in our residential project here in Dubai was a pleasure for us.

Walk us through your process of choice for the main design pieces

It is all about aesthetics and functionality. Our main design choice is combining the two ideals within our projects. Maintaining highly attractive design with functional solutions for the problematic given for the space.

Let's talk about the wide range of materials and elements involved in the creation of your best projects

I would like to quote architect Louis Kahn on this one, “You say to a brick, ‘What do you want, brick?’ And brick says to you, ‘I like an arch.’ And you say to brick, ‘Look, I want one, too, but arches are expensive, and I can use a concrete lintel.’ And then you say: ‘What do you think of that, brick?’ Brick says: ‘I like an arch.’” Basically for us we tend to use materials where they are supposedly to be used. The beauty of marble has been always the front runner in our designs, thinking about the climate control in this region we learned to combine glass openings with our stone façade cladding to emit daylight while minimizing the direct sun exposure. For furniture and accessories we tend to use top of the top quality brands and pieces to define the ultra-luxury here in this rich GCC market

Your definition of luxury

If we check the word from its origin, it is coming from Latin for “excess”. It is a sinful taste of extravaganza in other words. In CK we are trying to give new meaning to this word with our timeless Design & Build solutions. Personally from my practice, Luxury is having the opportunity to make mistakes and learning from them which requires some of your time in this fast-pace modern city life.
