Poltrona Frau at Salone del mobile
Poltrona Frau Group will be present, as every year, at 2013 Salone del mobile 2013, sowing you the latest news of one of the most important and renewed Italian Companies in the furniture area, established itself in the worldwide for its unmistakable Made in Italy style, which led its to be one of the brands most prized and sought after abroad. The new collections will be on display at Frau Rho Fair, Hall 20 Stand D07 – E08.
To coincide with its 100th anniversary, Poltrona Frau, the manufacturer known for its luxurious leather furniture, has officially inaugurated its museum in the central Italian town of Tolentino, its headquarters since the early 1960s. Designed by Michele De Lucchi, the Milan architect who was a key figure in radical design movements like Memphis, the Poltrona Frau Museum presents both the company’s history and the processes involved in making its products.
Just inside the entrance, visitors encounter nine video “totems” that present words and images that make up a technical glossary of furniture manufacturing. A wall of leather upholstery samples offers an idea of the range of colors and textures offered. Pieces like the Vanity Fair chair, a descendant of one of the company’s oldest designs, are presented along with others that are grouped by decade, along with displays of documents, advertisements, catalogues and sketches from the company’s archives. Poltrona Frau’s seating for large projects, like Frank Gehry’s Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles, and its interiors for high-end cars, yachts, and airplanes are also on view.
