An exclusive version for eCommerce of the iconic UP5_6 chair. The trendiest nuance coral pink is an innovative color that encourages consumers to add color or a sense of fun to their day. Designed in 1969, from the onset, the UP series has been one of the most outstanding expressions of design with its expressive shapes upholstered with elastic fabric. This innovative solution, poised midway between design and art, and conceived to be offered to a wide audience, stems from B&B Italia’s extensive technological manufacturing with polyurethane injection molding. Particularly noteworthy among the armchairs is the iconic UP5_6 with its unmistakable anthropomorphic references: a metaphor of a large womb, it calls to mind ancient statues of the goddesses of fertility. Additionally, a spherical ottoman tied to the armchair contrasts the image of comfort and convenience with a more figurative one that renders a woman with a ball and chain tied to her foot.
To celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of the Up series, designed by Gaetano Pesce in 1969, the iconic armchair with ottoman UP5_6 wears a special dress: a beige/petrol green striped fabric based on the original colour palette. Serie Up designed in 1969 by Gaetano Pesce wins XXVII Compasso d’Oro ADI - Product Career Award 2022.

A brand with its sights firmly set on the future, B&B Italia is defined by design, high quality and innovation. Founded by Piero Ambrogio Busnelli and Cesare Cassina in 1966 – a time when the furnishing sector still had strong ties with craftsmanship, B&B Italia stood out for its ability to develop new production techniques. Two of the earliest are injection moulding and cold polyurethane technology, which immediately made the brand’s furniture a symbol of modernity. Today, the future for B&B Italia means thinking about the customer’s comfort and lasting well-being. The result is contemporary furniture that combines design and solidity
