Vico Magistretti

Vico Magistretti was an Italian designer, architect and urban planner born in Milan in 1920 earning a degree in architecture at the Milan Polytechnics in 1945, studying with some of the great architects of the time such as Gio Ponti and Piero Portaluppi. During his training he also embarked on a study trip to Switzerland, where he met Ernesto Nathan Rogers, who trained him from an intellectual point of view.

Once back in Italy he started working at his father's studio in Milan, for which he will mainly deal with architecture and urban planning. Simo, however, in the years of fairs and exhibitions, a world that has always aroused great interest in him and which he approached with passion and curiosity, over time confirmed himself as one of the greatest spokesman of his time.

He received numerous awards during his career: first of all the Grand Prix of the VIII Triennale, which was followed by many others. As a great intellectual, he also gave numerous lectures and conferences on architecture and design all over the world.

The particular attention paid to the world of home and design, finally ends up monopolising his professional career starting from the 60s and resulted in the creation of numerous furnishing objects with an inimitable taste and an incredibly formal innovative expression.

He worked with companies such as Cassina, Artemide, Flou, Kartell, Fritz Hansen, Fontana arte and many others, giving timeless design icons to future generations that are still highly appreciated in the field of interior design.
